Dunstable
Ancient market town - set at the junction of the 4,000 year old Icknield Way and 'Roman' Watling Street. The Augustinian priory (founded 1131), was chosen by Henry VIII for the divorce proceedings of his first wife Katherine of Aragon. The town later became a coaching centre, and noted for its straw plait and hat making industries.
